About Us
The Victorian node of the NCRIS AuScope 'Simulation, Analysis, Modelling' Component is hosted by Monash University and delivered in partnership with VPAC. Our goals are to improve and extend the software infrastructure collectively developed under ACcESS.
Professor Louis Moresi of Monash University is the Chair of the AuScope 'Simulation, Analysis, Modelling' (SAM) Component. Steve Quenette of VPAC is Project Director of AuScope SAM, Victoria. The Facility
AuScope 'Simulation, Analysis, Modelling' Victoria's facility includes:
- Geodynamics modelling capability - including meeting facilities, prepared workstations, and a visualisation/analysis facility (in construction).
- Software development laboratories - including developer workspaces, development scale computational resources.
Software Infrastructure Projects
| Underworld | Underworld is a 3D-parallel geodynamic modelling framework capable of deriving viscous / viscoplastic thermal, chemical and thermochemical models consistent with tectonic processes, such as mantle convection and lithospheric deformation over long time scales. |
| gLucifer | gLucifer is a visual analysis toolkit that can be used for models and geological data. gLucifer provides both interactive and background rendering but concentrates on the latter for rendering frames of computationally intense, remotely running applications (i.e. generates 4-D streaming movies while the calculation is running) |
| StGermain | The StGermain project aims to provision the development of computational codes through building blocks of mathematical and physics concepts. |
